Mark H. Willes
Mark H. Willes was appointed president and CEO of Deseret Management Corporation. He is also CEO of KSL Broadcast Group. His previous position was as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Times Mirror. Before joining Times Mirror, Mr. Willes was vice chairman of General Mills, Inc. He also previously served with the Federal Reserve System and began his career as an assistant professor of finance at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Mr. Willes received his A.B. degree from Columbia College, New York City, and his Ph.D. from the Columbia Graduate School of Business.
Clark G. Gilbert
Clark G. Gilbert is the president and CEO of Deseret News and Deseret Digital Media. Prior to joining DMC, Gilbert was the associate academic vice president at BYU-Idaho over online learning and distance education. He was also on the faculty at the Harvard Business School where he focused on the media industry’s migration to the Internet. He received an B.A. from Brigham Young University and a M.A. from Stanford University. He also earned a doctorate in Business Administration from Harvard. Gilbert and his wife, Christine, are the parents of seven children.
Joseph A. Cannon
Joseph A. Cannon is the editor of the Deseret News. Prior to becoming editor, Cannon was a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. He played a leading role in the purchase of Geneva Steel from USX Corporation in 1987 and was CEO until 2001. He received his B.A. and J.D., with honors, from Brigham Young University. Cannon and his wife, Jan, are the parents of seven children.
Jim Wall
Jim Wall is the publisher of the Deseret News and is responsible for the overall business and operation of the newspaper, collaborating with the editor on product development and growth strategies that maximize the interests of the Deseret News for revenue, circulation, promotion and customer service. Along with the duties of the Deseret News, additional responsibilities include providing community leadership and service and maintaining relationships among business, government, charitable, educational and other community leaders. Jim graduated with a degree in Communications from Brigham Young University. He is married to Constance M. Smith. They have five children.
Sheri Dew
Sheri Dew is the President and CEO of Deseret Book Company. Prior to being named to her current position, she was the executive vice president of publishing for Deseret Book. She has served as a counselor in the General Presidency of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a White House delegate to the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations, and is the author of the official biographies of Presidents Gordon B. Hinckley and Ezra Taft Benson as well as a number of other best-selling titles. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University.
